Saraswati's Playlist
In honor of Saraswati, the Hindu Goddess of music, TogetherYoga is pleased to present Saraswati's Playlist, a soundtrack to inspire our vinyasa flow. The playlist features a 45-minute selection of music to complement an hour of practice. Use it with a silent 5-minute opening mediation and 10 minutes of silence for shivasana.

From kirtan to bluegrass, the music we move to helps us celebrate our lives. Featuring these songs is our way of paying tribute to the amazing artists who give so much to our practice. If you like this music, consider supporting these artists by purchasing their songs. Voting with our dollars sends a message to the industry that there is a demand for inspirational music.

If you have suggestions for Saraswati's Playlist, please feel free to share your "offering" below. We look forward to featuring new music, especially by independent artists. So, let us know what inspires you.

If you only have 5 minutes for Sun Salutations...
Here's our pick for a one-song practice.

Trip the Light by Garry Schyman
About the Song
This original composition is the second song we've featured from Garry Schyman. Created for the 2012 edition of Where the Hell is Matt?, the lyrics were written by globe-trotting dance inspiration Matt Harding and vocalist Alicia Lemke. As his fourth video, Where the Hell is Matt? 2012 takes its creator to 71 locations in 55 countries and 11 states. If you only have five minutes to practice, get moving with Matt's infectious optimism. It'll add a little happy to your day.

Trip the Light
by Matt Harding and Alicia Lemke

If all the days that come to pass
Are behind these walls
I’ll be left at the end of things
In a world kept small

Travel far from what i know
I’ll be swept away
I need to know
I can be lost and not afraid

We’re gonna trip the light
We’re gonna break the night
And we’ll see with new eyes
When we trip the light

Remember we’re lost together
Remember we’re the same
We hold the burning rhythm in our hearts
We hold the flame

I’ll find my way home
On the Western wind
To a place that was once my world
Back from where I’ve been

And in the morning light I’ll remember
As the sun will rise
We are all the glowing embers
Of a distant fire

Song: All We Are
Artist: Matt Nathanson
C.S. of NYC says...I love the message in this song. It's the perfect song to start off with in a practice. It's even good for getting to the mat. I used it as my wake up song on the mornings when I needed an alarm to get me up for the early morning class in Central Park. I'll always have the most magical memories of practicing there, under the trees as the sun came up, with this song in my head.
